children need 10-11 hours of sleep every night. Your body needs sleep so:
your muscles, skin, and bones can grow
cuts and bruises can heal
your body can stay healthy and fight illness
you have energy to learn and play
Your brain needs sleep so you can:
pay attention and concentrate
solve problems and think of new ideas
remember what you learn
better control your behavior and emotions
Try This:
go to bed at the same time every night
keep your bedroom cool, dark and quiet
exercise during the day
don't eat a big meal before bedtime
do something relaxing, like reading a book or taking a bath before bedtime

before eating
after using the toilet
before and after you treat a wound
after playing with a pet
after playing outdoors
before and after preparing foods
anytime your hands feel sticky or dirty to get rid of invisible germs
Steps to Washing Your Hands
Wet your hands
Get soap
Scrub your hands for 20 seconds
Rinse well
Use a paper towel to turn the water off
Dry your hands
Try This! Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. Imagine singing the Happy Birthday song twice!
Nutrition Think about what goes on your plate before you eat
Fruit: focus on fruits and eat 1 1/2 cups every day
Vegetables: Vary your vegetables and eat 2 1/2 cups every day
Protein: Go lean with protein and eat 5 oz. every day
Dairy: Eat calcium-rich foods eat 2 1/2 cups every day
Oils: Oils, also known as fats are not a food group but you need some for good health. Get your fats from fish, nuts and liquid oils such as canola and olive oils
LIMIT salt, SUGARS and solid fats (except real butter and bacon!)
Did you Know that there are about 10 teaspoons of sugar in a can of soda?? Try This! Drink water instead of soda and other sugary drinks.
Exercise Why is exercise so important?
